Refuge Student Ministry

Building Up in Every Season of Life

Engage ^ Excite ^ Express

A refuge is a place of shelter from the sudden storms and challenges encountered as student begin climbing the mountain of life. Refuge provides an atmosphere and space for students to engage in authentic relationship with Christ and others, be excited about growing closer to Christ, and grow in their desire to express Christ to others.

2018-2019 Emphasis

Connecting with Students, Connecting With Parents, Connecting With Jesus

Wednesday Nights - Connect Groups

Connect Groups are a small-group based ministry and will meet at the church on Wednesday nights (Sept. 5, 2018 - May 29, 2019).

  • 6:00 pm - Students can arrive and start hanging out and playing games
  • 6:20 pm - Worship
  • 6:30 pm - Message
  • 7:00 pm - Connect Group Time
  • 7:30 pm - Closing time

We will be unpacking 1st Corinthians. The theme will be Discipleship.

We encourage Connect Group Leaders to spend time with their groups away from church. For example, they may schedule outings to the Corn Maze, Indoor Trampoline Park, etc. We also encourage groups to combine with other groups and fellowship away from the church.

Sunday Mornings

On Sunday mornings we focus more on fellowship. We meet in the Youth Room for breakfast each Sunday and allow students to share highlights of group time that happened on Wednesday night. The morning will also include a short lesson from The Gospel Project with an emphasis on the connection to Christ throughout the Bible.

Other Events

Mark your calendars for three major events in the life of the Student Ministry for this year:

  • Generate (DNOW weekend) - April 5-7, 2019. Theme: The Prodigal Son
  • World Changers - July 15-20, 2019, in Morganton, NC
  • Re-Launch - August 5-9, 2019
