Moving from Slavery to Freedom/Slave to Son

• First, the slave-like condition of the sons while they were still minors is described and applied to the human condition (Galatians 4: 1-3)
  • verse 1 – child
  • verse 2 – guardians and stewards
  • verse 3 – when we were children … in bondage
• Second, the sending of God’s Son to liberate slaves and make them sons is announced (Galatians 4: 4-5)
  • verse 4 – the fullness of time
    • Born of a woman
    • Under the law
  • verse 5 – to redeem
    • The adoption to sonship
• Third, the full rights of sons are disclosed (Galatians 4: 6-7)
  • verse 6 – Spirit of His Son
  • “ABBA”
  • verse 7 – son, then an heir though God
