I suppose it is providentially timed that as we consider the horror of the violence in Las Vegas, our series brings us to Matthew 5: 9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” As sons and daughters of God, we need to be doing more to make peace in a world that is increasingly being torn apart by hatred and violence. We are called to proclaim the gospel of peace and reconciliation in a world that desperately needs it. We have, what the world doesn’t even know it needs – peace through Christ!

The Beatitude Explained
- Peacemakers – describes active work to establish peace. It’s not enough to just be peaceful, we are to get involved, make sacrifices, take risks, and make peace.
- Jesus died to make peace for us with God
- Sons (and Daughters) of God – inherit the character and qualities of their parent
- We are sons/daughters through faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3: 26)
- As Kingdom citizens, we are to be making peace – with others in our lives, schools, works, etc.
A Biblical Pattern for Making Peace
We proclaim a gospel of peace, now we must live it!
- Glorify God by all that you say and do
- Get the log out of your eye – confess your responsibility in the conflict first
- Go and show your brother his fault – at the right time, in the right way
- Give forgiveness and grace, just as you have received that from Christ
