Sermon Notes
Our road trip continues, and we’re back on the subject of money and material things, and Jesus’ advice to His disciples is simply this – don’t worry!
Don’t worry! Rejoice in the goodness of God!
- Don’t worry about basic needs – do what truly matters
- Life is about more than material needs – we need an eternal perspective (verses 22-23)
- God knows we need these basic things (verse 3) and will provide
- Consider how He provides for the birds and flowers (verse 24, verses 27-28)
- Focus on what matters, God’s Kingdom these things will be added (verse 31)
- Don’t worry about basic needs – worrying doesn’t help anyway
- Jesus doesn’t want us to live in a state of anxiety – He brings (us) peace beyond understanding
- Worrying is pointless – it can’t add anything to our life (verses 25-26)
- Anxiety is a waste of time – it gives the illusion of control and tempts us to waste our energy on something pointless
- Don’t worry about basic needs – God has given us His Kingdom!
- It is God’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom (verse 32)
- This is the big picture, why we shouldn’t fret over the things of daily life
- God delights in giving us the big picture benefits through Jesus Christ – eternity and salvation
