Domestic Trafficking Awareness Presentation
Informing & Protecting Our Children
On February 19th from 6-8 pm, Lake Ridge Baptist Church will hold a public information session to teach parents how to talk to their children about sex trafficking so they can be on guard against predators. Although this is a follow-on to the January presentation the content in this session is valuable even if you did not attend the first session.
January 22nd, Lake Ridge Baptist Church hosted two speakers from Shared Hope International, Holly Orefice and Crystal Robinson. The purpose of the event was to educate parents and others who work with youth and children about Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST). We saw the story of Brianna who was rescued thanks to a friend who recognized something was wrong. (See Brianna's story)
In this follow-up presentation the focus will be to inform parents on how to talk to your child about sex trafficking so they can be on guard against predators. We will look at:
- God's perspective on sexual exploitation
- How to talk to young men and young women about this issue,
- a brief overview of what the Youth Ministry at Lake Ridge Baptist will teach to their students
The meeting is open to the entire community at no charge; however, since the material is sensitive, we encourage only adults to attend. For more information, call the church at (703) 494-8413.
