Jesus is now gathering with His disciples. It’s important to note that Jesus and ONLY His disciples are with Him, Judas included. Jesus is addressing a question the disciples bring up.
Matthew 25 is really a continuation of Matthew 24. Matthew 25 teaches us three things:
- Be Watchful
- Be a Disciple
- Be Authentic

Sermon Notes
- Be Watchful
- Matthew 24: 42. Tells His disciples to stay awake because we do not know the day the Lord is coming, but He is coming.
- 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-11. The Lord will come like a thief in the night.
- It doesn’t mean look out the window at night. It does not mean go up on a mountain to look. Even the wise slept when it was time to sleeps. Watchfulness means be Spiritually awake.
- Be alert and alive to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit
- Be a Disciple
- It’s important to note that Jesus is talking to His Disciples, and He is talking to us
- Have a heart of a disciple. Discipleship is a path of obedience not a path of procrastination
- Be Authentic
- I believe this is the most destructive thing a church can do (not be authentic)
- Throughout Jesus’ earthly mission you see Him tell us that people will act like a disciple of Christ but not be authentic about it
- Their hearts do’t match their actions
- Empty light, empty faith
- We need to realize and live out what it means to follow Jesus
