  • Then, as Now, Tough Times Tempt Us to Focus on “Glory Days”
    • The Second Temple wasn’t going to be as grand as the First (verses 1-3)
    • In American church life, it’s tempting to look back
  • For God’s People, the Future is Brighter than the Past
    • God promised better days ahead (verses 6-9)
    • This was partially fulfilled when Jesus came to Jerusalem
    • It will be fully realized when Jesus returns
  • Be Strong and Word in the Holy Spirit
    • How should God’s people respond to a difficult present and a glorious future? Be strong and work hard (verses 4-5)
    • This remain true for us in the Turbulent ’20s
