In previous weeks our journey through the psalms has explored the pain when it feels like God has turned His back on us and when it seems He’s permitting evil to run wild in the world around us. But what happens when we realize that we’re the problem and it devastates us? What happens when we realize that guilt, shame, and sin are deeply rooted in our own hearts and lives and that we’re the unjust ones? How do we come to the Creator of the universe in these moments? Psalm 51 provides the answer amidst the pain of guilt and shame.
