Today we move into one of the most eloquent Christological passages of the entire Bible. Paul is writing to a church that is having issues with believing in the one true Christ. In this early Christian creed Paul beautifully outlines characteristics of Christ, and shows us his lordship over creation and the new creation.

- Introduction
- Paul is writing to a group of individuals who are believing in the wrong “christ”
- They have traded their allegiance for false teachings, and have made these false idols lords in their lives
- Lord of Creation (verses 15-17)
- Paul makes an assertion in verse 15, and then goes on to support the assertion in verses 16-17
- Christ was at creation, active at creation, and is the reason for creation. (Genesis 1: 26; John 1:3; 1 Corinthians 8: 6)
- Jesus is the goal of creation, everything exists to display his glory, and ultimately he will be glorified in his creation
- As Christians we are created for the purpose to glorify God, however our lighthouse has been dirtied, it has grown dim. Creation needs to be restored.
- Lord of the New Creation (verses 18-20)
- Paul makes an assertion in verse 18, and then goes on to support the assertion in verses 19-20
- Every aspect of creation touched by sin will be touched by grace.
- Christ’s universal peace brings reconciliation to believers but destruction to non-believers
- When we accept Christ we become a new creation, the old passes. We are restored to how we were created.
