We’ve enjoyed all the good news lately about heaven, our hope, inheritance, and salvation. Now Peter explains what that means for how we live our lives as people so abundantly gifted by God…

Sermon Notes
As children of God, we must live to glorify God.
- We Must Live to Glorify God Every Day of Our Lives (v. 17)
- Verse 17 is the only command and main point of the passage – conduct yourselves in fear.
- Fear is not terror. Fear is awe, reverence, and respect toward the creator of the universe!
- In the time of your exile = this life, every day until we reach our promised inheritance in heaven.
- As believers, then every day of this life, we must conduct ourselves in a way that glorifies God. Some specifics – Love one another (1:22), and no malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, or slander (2:1)
- We Must Live to Glorify God Because Christ Died for Us (vv. 18-21)
- We were ransomed from our futile ways – we cannot reach God on our own.
- We were ransomed by the blood of Jesus the Christ (v19), the only lamb perfect enough to cover the sin of the world.
- We were ransomed so that we could have faith and hope (our living hope) (vv. 20-21).
- So how we conduct ourselves matters – because Christ paid a terrible price for our faith and our ransom. Of course we will fail sometimes, but God is faithful to forgive.
