God’s Great Love Must Be Received and Shared

  1. The Great Love of God
    1. God’s Great Love for Us – God sees our failures and messes and loves us anyway – “For God so loved the world…”
    2. God’s Great Gift to Us – A righteous and holy God expresses His love to an unrighteous and unholy people by giving His Son – “…that He gave His only Son…”
  2. Receiving the Love of God
    1. To receive that love, we must believe in God’s Son – it isn’t based on our performance, goodness, education, accomplishment, or virtue
    2. For those who don’t believe, there is only condemnation (verse 18) – this is the default position of every person because of our sin
    3. In Christ, there is no condemnation ever, only the love of God (verse 17, verse 18)
  3. Sharing the Love of God
    1. This great love is a love meant to be shared – God doesn’t just love us in the church, or those who have their act together – “For God so loved the world…”
    2. In this season, we must work to share the love of God with the world God loves – locally in our neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces, and globally – through our missionaries
