God’s Great Love Must Be Received and Shared
- The Great Love of God
- God’s Great Love for Us – God sees our failures and messes and loves us anyway – “For God so loved the world…”
- God’s Great Gift to Us – A righteous and holy God expresses His love to an unrighteous and unholy people by giving His Son – “…that He gave His only Son…”
- Receiving the Love of God
- To receive that love, we must believe in God’s Son – it isn’t based on our performance, goodness, education, accomplishment, or virtue
- For those who don’t believe, there is only condemnation (verse 18) – this is the default position of every person because of our sin
- In Christ, there is no condemnation ever, only the love of God (verse 17, verse 18)
- Sharing the Love of God
- This great love is a love meant to be shared – God doesn’t just love us in the church, or those who have their act together – “For God so loved the world…”
- In this season, we must work to share the love of God with the world God loves – locally in our neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces, and globally – through our missionaries
