Christ Wants His Body (the church) Built!

1. Christ Gave Leaders to Build the Body
   1. Equipping to do ministry is the purpose of Pastors/Teachers (verses 11-12)
   2. Doing the ministry to build the body is the work of the people
2. Four Elements of Building Each Part of the Body
   These are not new – these are just the elaboration of the Great Commission (baptizing and teaching to obey all Jesus commanded). We should take inventory of how we’re doing on these four.

    

   1. Unity of the Faith – our faith is the higher value of the unity
   2. Knowledge of Christ
   3. Mature  Christian Adulthood – not tossed around (verse 14)
   4. Christ-likeness (verse 15)
3. When Every Part Works Properly, Christ Enables the Body to Build Itself in Love
   Just like a real body, it’s all about being connected and working properly. Anything less leaves the body sick, weak, and disabled.

    

   1. Connected to the Head (verse 15)
   2. Joined and Held Together in Unity (as we discussed last week)
   3. Working Properly – Equipped and Doing Your Part
   4. Christ makes the body grow – it builds itself in Love
